Pulley finish
- Each material has its own properties that define what finishes are possible on that certain property of material.
- Also finishes are used to achieve a target based on the requirement of the system or machine that it’s going to be used in.
- Paint is also a finish required by a few customers on certain materials.
Custom accessories can be made on order by universal size standards, drawing provisions and belt samples
Tolerances
- The boring is made in H7, if there are no other specified requirements. The tolerances of the flange outer diameter are: f 0.15mm. All other dimensions are as per MULCO standards (or) as specified according to DIN 7168 m and ISO 2768 standards.

STANDARDS APPLICABLE TO PULLEYS AND FLANGES
- Pulleys are components manufactured to close tolerances in order to achieve best performance and long belt life.
- To achieve the reproduction of the correct pulley profile, licensed hobs are used.
- Master Profile: A scaled line drawing of the ideal groove profile with tolerance bands plotted on dimensionally stable translucent material.
- Dimensional Profile Drawing: A line drawing of the ideal groove profile with all arcs and radii defined. Suitable for mould design.
STANDARDS APPLICABLE TO PULLEYS AND FLANGES
- Digitized Points: A series of X and Y coordinates defining the ideal groove profile. Suitable for mould design.
- Tolerance /Inspection Procedure: The actual pulley groove profile must fit within the specified tolerance bands without any sharp transition or undercuts.
The following definitions are being used when considering quality of pulleys:
- Pulley O.D. Tolerances
- Pulley Eccentricity: The allowable amount of radial run out from the pulley bore to the O.D.
- Helix Angle: Grooves should be parallel to the axis of the bore within 0.001″ per inch of pulley groove face width.
- Draft: The maximum permissible draft on the groove form is 0.001″ per inch of face width and must not exceed the O.D. tolerance.
- Parallelism: The bore of the pulley is to be perpendicular to the vertical faces of the pulley.
The following definitions are being used when considering quality of pulleys:
- Pitch Accuracy: Adequate pitch to pitch accuracy is generally more difficult to achieve with moulded pulleys than with machined pulleys.
- Balancing: Balancing is often not required on machined metal pulleys. All pulleys should be statically balanced to 1/8 oz. (3.5 grams) in all sizes.
